Selector Radio’s ‘After Dark’ Brings the Sound of UK Electronic Music to Osaka Expo’s Final Weekend

As Osaka Expo 2025 draws to a close, the UK Pavilion will come alive to the sounds of cutting-edge electronic music, thanks to a special showcase from Selector Radio - the British Council's globally syndicated weekly radio show. Taking place on 11 and 12 October, Selector Radio will present a special showcase edition of ‘After Dark’ on our Village Green.

Joel Mills, British Council Director of Music says: "This showcase perfectly embodies an innovative spirit and creative approach to electronic music and technology that defines both UK and Japanese music scenes. Through Selector's 'After Dark', we're celebrating not just the extraordinary talent of our featured artists, but the deep creative bonds that have connected British and Japanese musicians for decades. Osaka Expo provides the perfect platform to showcase how UK artists are shaping the future of electronic music, and we're thrilled to bring this cultural exchange to such a significant global stage."

Hosted by Selector presenter Sian Eleri on Saturday 11 October and broadcaster and DJ Nick Luscombe on Sunday 12 October, the event features three pioneering UK artists whose work spans genres, geographies and generations:

  • Miso Extra, the genre-blending artist with British and Japanese roots, bringing her distinctive sound influenced by hip-hop, anime, and electronic icons.

  • Fourth Daughter, Edinburgh’s rising electro talent, brings lush, intricately textured music with emotionally rich soundscapes to the stage.

  • twst, the Welsh hyperpop artist, explores themes of online identity and surveillance.

“We’re proud to partner with the British Council to host this special Selector Radio showcase at the UK Pavilion”, says Carolyn Davidson, Commissioner General for UK at Expo 2025. “As the world’s second-largest music exporter and a global leader in the creative industries, the UK continues to shape the future of sound. Our final public event features three rising UK electronic artists, celebrating the innovation and energy driving the UK’s global music influence. It is a fitting conclusion to six inspiring months at Osaka Expo, and we thank everyone who has joined us in celebrating the UK’s presence.”
